Council Tax Rebates - How to Claim
In response to the current cost of living crisis for citizens, the government is offering a Council Tax Rebate to help relieve costs. Upfront funding will be allocated to each billing authority based on 2021 Council Taxbase Data, where the total estimated eligible dwellings multiplied by £150 benefit from the rebate. This accounts for a 0.63% uplift to account for dwelling growth, with an estimated cost of £2.93 billion. However, eligibility will be determined based on the position on 1 April 2022 and therefore flexible funding will be required to be returned or settle any discrepancies following this date and reconciliation exercise.
