Looking for TV Licensing?

To avoid fines it is essential you update your official records as soon as possible. We are a third party independent service offering services in relation to TV licenses, we are not affiliated with TV licensing, however we offer a TV Licence update service.

Your licence covers you, not a property. Instead of getting a new TV Licence each time you move home, all that's required is an address change. This makes it even more important that you update your licence to make sure you don't fall foul of the law.

To update the address on your licence, the process is simple. All you need to do is:

  • Update online or by phone

  • Provide your TV License number, (see below if you do not have this number)

  • Give details of your previous address (moving from) and new address (moving to)

  • Agree to the terms and conditions and save the changes.

Once your address has been updated, your existing TV Licence will remain valid. This process should only take a few minutes and it's an essential step to make sure you don't fall foul of the law and receive a fine. Updating your address online is convenient and helps ensure your Licensing records are correct and up to date.

Moving home is never a straightforward process but when it comes to ensuring your TV license is up to date then there are certain steps you must take. Read on for our straightforward step-by-step guide on how to switch your TV license from one address to another.

Where can I find my TV Licence number?

When updating your address you will need to enter your license number, this can be found in the following places:

  • On any letters/statements sent to you in the post

  • On any emails or confirmation of your licence sent to you by email (search your email folders for @tvlicensing.co.uk)

  • If you pay via direct debit you can find your licence number via your online banking or mobile banking app. In many cases this will show under "Direct Debits" however some banks call this menu "My Bills". Simply click to view your direct debit information and the reference number comprising of just numbers will be your licence number e.g. 138123456

  • If you pay via TV payment card, your licence number is the 9/10 digit number shown on the card

(!) Note: if your licence number on your banking or other correspondence is a longer number than 9/10 digits or starts with "Q" then you may be under a payment plan or over 75 account, in this case you will need to contact the tv licensing helpline to update your address.

Step 1: Update Online Or By Phone

The first step towards changing your address with the TV Licensing body should always be to go online, this is the fastest and most convenient way to update your address. If you prefer to call the TV Licensing helpline you can do this however please note that this is an automated system that will require you to confirm details verbally for the automatic system.

Step 2: Provide Relevant Information

Within the email, you must make sure you provide all the relevant information including your current address, the new address and the date from which you will be switching over. It is also advisable to include your Television Licensing number (if available) so they can crosscheck the records at their end.

Step 3: Activation Process

Once all the details have been provided and your request is submitted to the TV Licensing body, they will begin the activation process. Depending on where you are located in, this process should take up to 7 days. During this period, you will receive updates regarding the status of your request via email.
